What does a Professional Organizer (PO) do?
- As a Professional Organizer, I will help you gain control of your space by eliminating the clutter and disorganization so you can save time and energy for the things you love to do. Creating a more efficient home through personal organization will ease your stress and make you more productive. Overall, a PO can have a big effect on the quality of your life.
Who hires a PO?
- Anyone and everyone... moms, busy families, active dads, people going through life changes, teachers, seniors, business owners, realtors, new home owners and sellers, and people who are overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Everyone can benefit from being organized!
Why should I pay for a PO?
- Hiring a PO is very much like hiring a personal trainer at the gym. Chances are you already know how to run, do sit-ups and eat healthy. Having a trainer to give you encouragement, show you tips and tricks that will work for your specific body type and inspire you to keep going is what most people really need. It's the same with a PO. I will encourage you to make wise choices on what to keep and what to part with, I'll show you creative tricks to get organized according to your specific needs and desires and I'll give you the inspiration to keep it going long after I leave. Think of me as an Organizational Coach - ready to motivate and guide you in your quest for a better life.
What are your qualifications?
- Professional Organizing is a relatively new industry and currently there is no such thing as a licence for Professional Organizers. There are however, many social networks, online training groups, podcasts, books, articles and other resources that I utilize in order to stay up to date on current industry trends, guidelines and expectations.
What happens at the Discovery Session?
- During this free 30 minute session, we will walk through your home and discuss what is and isn't working for you and what your hopes are for the space. I'll devise a system of organization that will optimize the flow and function and maximize the aesthetics of your home.
Should I tidy up before the Discovery Session?
- Please don't! It's best if I see your home in its current state so I can create a plan that works best for how you really live. I have a "No Judgement Guarantee" so please know I understand how easily things can get out of control. I'll be able to develop a plan that best fits your specific needs if I can see your issues first hand.
What does an Organization Session look like?
- After forming a plan from the Discovery Session, we'll start by decluttering and doing any light cleaning needed. Then I'll work to organize and optimize the function of your area. Listening to how you use the space and knowing what your goals are will aid me in creating a system that will immediately benefit you and be easy for you to maintain for the future.
What does a Maintenance Session look like?
- We will tour the spaces I've worked on previously and tweak anything that can be improved. We will review your habits, refine your systems and put things back in their places if need be. These sessions are generally shorter in duration and can cover a larger area.
Can the Discovery Session and first Organizational Session be on the same day?
- Yes, we can tour your home and jump right into organizing if you like what I have to say. This would be at least a 3.5 hour session, 30 minutes for the discovery and at least three hours to organize.
Do I need to buy organizational products?
- I'm a big fan of reusing or re-purposing containers and storage systems that you already have to keep your costs down. Many of the items you already own can be used in multiple ways for different purposes. I know a lot of nifty tricks! You're welcome to purchase additional items if you feel the need and I'm happy to make suggestions. Sometimes it's good to have extra supplies like baskets, hooks, containers and other organizational tools on hand in case they could be useful, but it's not necessary. Depending on the area we are working on, I may bring some useful products that you can purchase from me at cost.
Do you make people get rid of things they don't want to?
- I don't MAKE you do anything 🙂 I respect you and your possessions. My goal is to see that everything has a place. Things that don't have a "home" become clutter and lead to disorganization so I'll work to make sure your things have a place to be stored that is convenient according to your needs and also makes sense functionally.
How will confidential matters be handled?
- All information is held in confidence. Any private information uncovered during a session will never be divulged and will be held to the highest standards of confidentiality and respect. If there is personal information or belongings that you do not wish to be seen, please remove them or place them in a box marked "personal" before I arrive.
How long will it take to get me organized?
- Home organization is very personal. How long it takes depends on the person and environment. Simple projects can take as little as 3 hours while more complex ones can take several sessions. Sessions are 3-7 hours long. Sessions shorter that 3 hours do not yield as effective of results. Staying focused on the goal will ensure that no time is wasted.
Will you haul donations away?
- Yes, each session I will haul away anything that fits in my SUV and drop it off at a donation center. I will give you the tax donation slip at our next session or mail it to you.
What are your hours?
- Typically I work Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm however, I can accommodate weekend and weeknight session if need. Each project is different and I tailor my hours to what works best for my client. Sometimes I work with a client for a few hours and then finish on my own as needed. If I'm working more than 4 hours, I take one 15 minute break.
Do you really enjoy being a PO?
- Definitely! It fits me perfectly. When I see a disorganized space, I don't get overwhelmed or have the feeling of dread. Instead, I get excited! I can see past all the "stuff" and can visualize the area's potential. Often, there's a smile on my face because I get a thrill out of creating great flow and function so my clients have more time for the things they love.
How do we get started?
- Either email me at [email protected] or call (720) 668-5686 to schedule a free Discovery Session. "If your mess causes stress, call Corinne and we'll begin!" Ha - I know it's cheesy but it rhymes and it's true.
